Workshops & Technical Trips

In addition to the international summer schools abroad and international summer/winter schools in Turkey, Department of Architecture & Design offers technical trips and workshops abroad in order to enhance the cultural/visual accumulation of students. Ranging from USA to fareast, those trips equip design students with the necessary awareness of cultural differences and interactions. Furthermore, encountering various geographies, built environments and design solutions paves the way for the education of open-minded and innovative professionals.

BARCELONA Technical Trip

 
As the city of famous architects like Gaudi, Montaner and Cadafalch, Barcelona embodies its way of Mediterranean architecture as well as representing the Catalan identity. It takes up a significant place in contemporary  architectural agenda, thus the whole city operates as a laboratory for architectural theory and history. Accordingly, the students experience a different version of the Mediterranean architecture, which reflects the exquisite blend of nature, culture and architecture.

 

 


 

MOROCCO Technical Trip

Having Islamic style architecture together with Spanish styles of the mid-centuries and the modern experiments of 20th century, Morocco offers a rich range of visual and theoretical potential that feeds the architectural accumulation of participating students. Large courtyards adorned with charming gardens, use of geometrical patterns and bright color schemes, material and climate sensitivity and organic formation are among the most significant features of Moroccan cities.

 

 


VIENNA / PRAGUE Technical Trip

 
Since 2008, technical trips to Central Europe have been organized in order to acquaint the students with the architectural progress in the old continent. Vienna/Prague Technical Trip aims to look forward to the roots of Modern Architecture, to analyze the existence of the old and the new together, and to examine the architectural practice in these cities. During the program, along with the various museums and art galleries, the students visit the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts Graduation Projects Exhibition in order to observe the different approaches to architectural education.
 

 


 

SALZBURG Workshop

 
The Salzburg Workshop is organized in collaboration with Fachhochschule Salzburg-Department of Forest Products Technology and Timber Construction and Bahçeşehir University-Faculty of Architecture and Design. The students are to design street furniture in the city of Salzburg, considering the urban fabric, architectural approaches and design practices related to the urban identity by using the Forest Productslaboratories and ateliers of the Fachhochschule Salzburg.
