Faculty of Architecture & Design, Architecture Undergraduate Program is accredited by MiAK (Architectural Accrediting Board - Mimarlık Akreditasyon Kurumu).

After the process started in February 2022 and finalized with the institutional visit between May 3-5, 2023 (following the 3-year MiAK accreditation in 2020), with the decision of the Architectural Accreditation Board on August 2, 2023, our Faculty of Architecture and Design, Architecture (English) Undergraduate Program was entitled to receive a "CONDITIONAL 6-YEAR ACCREDITATION" for the duration of the MiAK-MAK Accreditation Processes document.

What is MiAK?
MiAK is founded to assess architectural education and improve it via competence studies. Thereby it is aimed to provide prosperity to the society by raising better educated and qualified architects. Within this scope, the board makes various examinations from course contents and their evaluation methods to sufficiency of the physical environment where education is given, and makes assessments regarding required competences for architectural education.

DEPARTMENT OF INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE AND ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN – TAPLAK–İMEPAK ACCREDITATION PROCESS

1. As of January 2026, the Self-Evaluation Report of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design will be submitted for evaluation to İMEPAK (Interior Architecture Education Programs Accreditation Board) under TAPLAK (Design Planning Accreditation Association).
2. As of October 2025, an official application was submitted for the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design to be evaluated by İMEPAK - TAPLAK.
3. Research Assistant Arda Çalışkan (March 2024), Prof. Dr. Sezin Tanrıöver (June 2023), and Research Assistant Beril Gök (May 2023) were appointed by İMEPAK - TAPLAK and served on “Accreditation Evaluation Teams” for applicant educational institutions.
4. In December 2022, three interior architecture faculty members of the BAU Faculty of Architecture and Design, Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, participated in the “Evaluator Training Seminars” organized by İMEPAK - TAPLAK.
5. In November 2022, the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design of BAU Faculty of Architecture and Design participated in the “Accreditation Training Seminars” organized by İMEPAK - TAPLAK.
6. Prof. Dr. Sezin Tanrıöver, Head of the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design, is a Member of the İMEPAK Executive Board (2022), a Full Member of the İMEPAK Accreditation Board (2022-26), and a Member of the İMEPAK Education Commission (2022-26).
